NORA will once more hold its annual championships under the combined burgees of Sligo Yacht Club, Mullaghmore Sailing Club and Killybegs Sailing Club.

With racing taking place in Donegal bay the event promises challenging and great fun both on and off the water.

Northwest Offshore Racing Association (NORA) 2017

This year the NORA Championship will incorporate the MSC and Killybegs Regattas with some additional racing during the week. Again, there will be spinnaker and white sails categories and it would be great to see lots of boats taking part. The full schedule is as follows:

Starting with MSC Fri July 28th - Sun July 30th

Regatta Dinner at MSC Sat July 29th

Wednesday  Aug 2nd (evening) - Racing MSC

Offshore Race Mullaghmore to Killybegs Sat 5th August

NORA is organised under the joint auspices of Sligo Yacht Club, Mullaghmore Sailing Club and Killybegs Sailing Club. The event is kindly sponsored by Mooney Boats, SF Engineering and KBI Global Investors and is supported by MalinWaters.

3 days 6 races

Three fantastic days of racing! We really look forward to seeing members from Sligo YC and Killybegs SC coming over the bay to compete for the silverware. For the first time this year there will be prizes awarded for each race under ECHO - White Sails and Spinnaker.

First up is the Pier Head Trophy on the Friday night. Results will be announced in the Pier Head after racing.

Saturday sees three races being held where the SF Engineering Cup up for grabs. Eithna's restaurant will be offering a special regatta lunch (paella/seafood risotto) for €10. Demand exceeded supply last year so book your crew lunch in advance at registration to make sure you're in...

It wouldn't be the same without our Saturday night steak BBQ. MSC host the annual Regatta Dinner in the club house where locally produced Byrne's sirloin steaks go down a treat for very hungry sailors. This event sells out quickly and if you want to reserve tickets send an email to Mairead.Kearney@ictservices.ie or text 086-8751236. Tickets are €25.

It's a BYOB event so don't forget to bring your own...

Finally Sunday everyone is chasing the White Sails Fleet Trophy and the Commodore's Cup.

There's also an overall regatta trophy under IRC which is keenly contested.

Things wind down eventually with a BBQ at the clubhouse after racing on Sunday.

There are limited number of visitor moorings available which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please contact Des on 087 2438741 to check availability.

Racing will be under IRC and ECHO - if your boat doesn't have a handicap we'll find one for you.
