We are delighted to welcome Camile as the lead sponsor for the 2024 Mullaghmore Regatta.
The Mullaghmore Regatta is part of a long tradition dating back at least to the 1880’s. We have the faded newspaper cutting which you can see below promoting the 1886 event where the competitors were trawlers and Greencastle Yawls. Interesting to see that in the case of any protests the ‘objector’ had to lodge five shillings with his objection ‘the money to be applied to the regatta fund should the objection prove frivolous’. Maybe we could learn from the 1886 Race Committee…..
The 2024 Regatta will be going ahead from 26th to 28th July. We’re looking forward to welcoming visiting boats as well as our own members for three days of terrific racing. First race will be the Pier Head trophy with gun at 6pm on Friday. Saturday will have three races scheduled for the SF Trophy and Sunday will be two races for the Commodore’s Cup. Racing will be under both IRC and ECHO with white sails and spinnaker fleets. If you don’t have a handicap and want to participate that’s no problem we’ll fix it up for you - just make sure you have racing insurance cover.
There will be prizes for individual races and an overall trophy awarded for the white sails fleet and overall IRC. Special categories for Under 25 and all female crews.
We will be following the guidance from Irish Sailing to promote sustainability throughout the regatta and the event is registered with Sailors for the Sea as part of the Clean Regattas campaign. In 2023 the Camile Mullaghmore Regatta achieved Platinum accredition from Sailors for the Sea - the world’s leading sustainability certification for water based events.

The regatta dinner on Saturday evening at 7.30pm is open to members, their guests and participants.
Places are limited and this event is normally oversubscribed so we advise early booking.
