who we are

Mullaghmore Sailing Club is a volunteer-led, community-based club dedicated to opening up the joy of sailing and watersports to people of all ages and abilities across Donegal Bay. As the only sailing club in the bay, we provide a vital gateway to the sea for the wider region - all set beneath the dramatic beauty of Benbulben and Classiebawn Castle, in one of Ireland’s most breathtaking coastal landscapes.

Mullaghmore Sailing Club operates as a not-for-profit organisation driven by participation, youth development, and lifelong engagement in sport. Through structured training programmes, inclusive pathways, and positive competition, we help build confidence on the water while creating lasting connections both onshore and afloat.

At the heart of our club is community. Powered by dedicated volunteers, instructors, parents, and members, we share a passion for the sea and a belief in its power to inspire, challenge, and bring people together. Every season, we work to create meaningful opportunities for young people and adults alike - nurturing skills, friendships, and a lifelong love of sailing.

 

What We Offer

Mullaghmore Sailing Club provides a range of on-water and shore-based activities, including:

  • Junior and youth sailing club racing

  • Seasonal junior courses and camps

  • Adult learn-to-sail and refresher sessions

  • Cruiser racing and regattas

  • Season events

We cater for beginners through to developing racers, with an emphasis on safety, enjoyment, and personal progression.

 

Safety & Governance

Safety is central to everything we do. The club operates in line with Irish Sailing policies and procedures and maintains robust safety statements, risk assessments, safeguarding practices, and operating procedures.

We are committed to providing a safe environment for all participants, particularly children and young people, through trained instructors, clear supervision structures, and strong safeguarding standards.

Our Community

Mullaghmore Sailing Club is proud to serve the wider Donegal Bay region. We work closely with local organisations, schools, and partners to expand access to watersports and maximise the use of our facilities for community benefit.

We believe sailing should be open to everyone and we actively support initiatives that broaden participation and strengthen local connections.
