MSC Development Plans - the next 25 years!

The MSC premises was opened in 2000 and was funded by a combination of grants and fundraising initiatives driven by members and supporters from the the local community and further afield. Over the past 25 years the building has served the club and community well with up to 150 young people each year participating in junior sailing activities as well as adult sailing courses, social events, hosting national sailing events and various educational initiatives. As well as continuing and expanding the core use in terms of sail training for younger MSC members it is now regularly used by other local groups and clubs as a hub for water based activities and meetings - swimming groups, surfers, triathlon, exhibitions from local artists and seminars from environmental groups. It has become increasingly clear that capacity and activity are now constrained by the limitations of the building and consequently the club has been using a temporary marquee during the peak period. Recognising that the expanded range of activities is now well in excess of what was initially envisaged, the club recently obtained planning permission for a material upgrade to the building. As was the case in 2000, fundraising is required and this is a key priority for 2026. You can see more information on the plans and how you can help in the Development and Donations section.

MSC Camile Regatta retains Platinum Level Sustainability award

Mullaghmore Sailing Club is deeply committed to environmental sustainability and ocean health and proudly supports the Sailors for the Sea Clean Regattas Programme which is the world’s leading sustainability certification for water based events with participation across 53 countries. We were one of the first Irish clubs to take part in 2021 when we were awarded Silver Level certification. Our regatta is designed around the five sustainability themes: Elimination of Single Use Items, Environmental Stewardship, Green Boating, Community Involvement and Responsible Waste Management. Thanks to Emma Gilligan and the Green Team who have worked collaboratively across all aspects of the event to ensure every detail is aligned with the Clean Regatta principles. We have now retained Platinum Level award for the third consecutive year. You can learn more about the work behind important initiative in the Clean Regattas Programme Report 2025.
